MOTD Edit Full Install
If you are unsure of whether or not you have the Visual Basic Run Time Files, I suggest downloading the Full Install. Download and unzip this into a temporary directory. Run the program setup.exe and it will install all of the run time files and MOTD Edit files for you. (1.9mb)
MOTD Edit Minimum Install
If you are upgrading, or have downloaded and installed any previous versions of QNM, Q2NM, or MOTD Edit, just download and unzip this into your MOTD Edit directory. There are NO run time files included in this zip. Only MOTD Edit files. (55kb)
VB 5.0 Run Time Files
If you have downloaded the Minimum install, and it reports a missing DLL file, you can download this and unzip it to a temporary directory and run the file setup.exe. It will install just the Visual Basic Run Time Files. (1946kb)
For all of you newbies out there. Downloading is accomplished the same way you got here. Click on the hyperlink which is usually underlined or turns the mouse cursor into a hand. But instead of downloading and viewing in the browser, you will be downloading and saving to a directory on your local hard drive. The browser should initiate the download and prompt you for where to place the file you are retreiving. It is a good idea to make a directory somewhere on your hard drive that is just for this purpose, and name it something like Downloaded Internet Files. Once the browser is completely downloaded the file, you can then go to that directory and access it. Some browser initiate the download in different ways. With IE all you need to do is click the link, and a pop up window appears when the download is started.
Most files that are downloadable are stored as ZIP files. Zip files are files that contain one or more compressed files. It provides an easy way to distribute large files quicker. To access a ZIP file you need a program like WinZip. Go to there website and get a copy for your self.
